Spring Valley establishes agro-commodity hub
The local agro-commodity supplier Spring Valley is investing AED 184 million to develop a new distribution hub in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) in Dubai (UAE).
The facility, which covers 106,000 sqft, will feature advanced processing, storage, consumer packaging as well as roasting and grinding operations. The first phase is expected to be completed in two years, with the hub projected to process more than 65,000 t of staple food ingredients, including pulses, spices and nuts, and generate an annual turnover of around AED 440 million once fully operational.
This project supports regional food security, in a market where 80% of food is imported, and is also in line with Dubai’s renewable energy goals through its integrated solar plant. (js)
