Speed along Hungary-Serbia railway increased

The Belgrade-Novi Sad section of the Hungary-Serbia railway has recently been put into operation. It marks significant progress on the Hungary-Serbia Railway, a project jointly constructed by China and Central and Eastern European countries.

The new stretch shortens the travel time from Belgrade to Novi Sad – between the two biggest towns in Serbia - by 30 minutes. The 341.7 km long Hungary-Serbia Railway has double-track electrified railway lines for freight and passenger trains, connecting Belgrade and Budapest.

It is the first project for the integration of the Chinese railway facilities and equipment with the EU technical specification of interoperability, China Railways said. (ben)
