Shunting by remote control

HSL Logistik, a privately run railfreight company based in Germany, has taken delivery of a new Euro 9000, bringing the number of these locomotives in its fleet up to three. Two more are currently still in production and are to follow at a later date.

Produced by the Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail, the new model already has licences to operate in various European countries. Among other advantages, it can be shunted by means of a radio remote control system.

123 t plus other attached loads can thus be moved by remote control, significantly increasing flexibility and operational efficiency, HSL Logistik says. (ben)
