Seawing cuts transatlantic emissions

Airseas, a provider of wind propulsion systems for the maritime sector, has reported fuel and emissions reductions of 16% during sea trials of the Seawing system. These reductions are based on a typical transatlantic voyage, with traction data collected during automated dynamic flights of the Seawing.

The kite flies in "figure of eight" patterns to enhance traction to the ship, reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The data aligns with the Seawing's development roadmap, targeting average savings of 20%.

Airseas has successfully validated the automation system controlling the Seawing's dynamic flights, marking significant progress in maritime decarbonization efforts. (pb)
