Sal’s future-ready deck carriers

Sal Heavy Lift is expanding its fleet with two cutting-edge semi-submersible deck carriers, the ‘Zhong Ren 121’ and the ‘Zhong Ren 122,’ in partnership with Shanghai Salvage (China).

These vessels, scheduled for delivery between December 2023 and February 2024 in Shanghai, will be marketed through the Jumbo-Sal alliance. The move aims to meet the growing demands of offshore wind and complex cargo transports, providing customers with enhanced solutions.

The new carriers boast impressive specs, including the ability to carry floating cargo, modern DP2 technology, a capacity of 26,000 t and accommodation for up to 59 people.

After initial cargo transport from Asia to Europe, they will be deployed for a US offshore wind farm project, with potential contract extensions of two to three years. This expansion is in line with Sal's strategic focus on the renewable energy sector. (pb)
