Regular Balkan train launched

The port of Thessaloniki (THPA) has launched a new regular intermodal service between Thessaloniki (Greece) and Nis (Serbia). The first block-train carrying containers from CMA CGM recently departed from THPA’s container terminal and arrived at the Mbox terminal in Nis on the same day after a 16-hour journey.

The service is thee result of a cooperation between ThPA and the railway companies Hellenic Train (Greece), MZ Transport (Northern Macedonia) and Kombinovani Prevoz (Serbia) and nine other private and public entities.

From September 2022, trains will depart from both Thessaloniki and Nis every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. (ben)
