Record cargo volumes at Katowice Airport

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA) – which manages Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport – has summed up its cargo traffic results for 2021.

From January to the end of December 2021, a record-breaking 32,104 t of freight, i.e. 11,729 t more (+57.6%) than in 2020, were handled on routes to/from Katowice Airport, which is among the biggest regional airports in Poland. It is the best result in the airport’s history.

Katowice Airport welcomed major additions to its cargo network in 2021: at the beginning of the year, Lufthansa Cargo launched a Polish nationwide RFS point in Pyrzowice and started handling RFS routes between Katowice Airport and Frankfurt and Vienna. Amazon introduced four regular charter routes from Katowice Airport in mid-2021. (cj)
