Partnering in Pakistan
Daraz, an e-commerce platform, is planning to upgrade two distribution centres in its Pakistan network. Cainiao, the logistics branch of Alibaba Group, will oversee their automation. The distribution centres will be equipped, amongst others, with an innovative automatic assembly line. The set-up will rely on the logistics company's solutions like e-PLC, control algorithm and WCS.
To date, Cainiao has built hundreds of automated distribution centres of varying scales in the Chinese mainland, and ten smart distribution hubs across Europe, Asia, and America.
The project marks a new milestone for the logistics company as its first deeply integrated network of distribution centres in South Asia. It is a region with access to over 500 million people and an emerging market for e-commerce.
Founded in 2015, Daraz is a major South Asian e-commerce platform in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar. Currently, it counts approximately 200,000 active sellers. (cd)
