Orange giant invests in driver training

The Swiss retail chain and “orange giant” Migros is building a training centre for professional drivers from three of its companies at the operations centre of the Migros Ostschweiz cooperative.

To this end, the cooperative has invested in new software from the Berlin (Germany)-based high-tech company Sifat Road Safety for its truck driving simulator, which it bought five years ago.

Further training for the 150 or so truck drivers employed by Migros Ostschweiz will also be stepped up and made more efficient. This is because the Migros drivers have to be able to drive both articulated trucks and semi-trailer trucks.

If the simulator is not required in-house, it will be rented to other companies in need of driver training courses on request. (ben)
