ONE's volumes on the rise

The Japanese carrier Ocean Network Express, which is headquartered in Singapore, forecasts strong results for 2021. In Q3/2021, ONE's profit increased to USD 4.9 billion compared to the same period last year (+USD 3.945 million) mainly due to the rise in the spot freight market.

Since the strong cargo demand continued in Q4/2021, the company anticipates an approximate USD 15.4 billion profit for the full year 2021.

In Q4/2021, although there are going to be some seasonal factors, such as Chinese New Year and blank sailings due to supply chain disruptions, ONE forecasts a USD 3.75 billion profit after tax. Volumes are also going up: in the first three quarters of 2021, throughput rose to 9.22 million teu handled (2020: 8.93 million teu), an uptick of 3%. (sh)
