New container train for hinterland traffic in Germany

ERS Railways is introducing a new direct, twice weekly intermodal service in Germany with effect from 12 January. The domestic shuttle service will run between the port of Hamburg and Singen close to the German-Swiss border. The train will haul import and export containers.

ERS, founded in 1994, has been a subsidiary of the Swiss intermodal transport provider Hupac since 2018. ERS connects Germany’s major seaports with the country’s hinterland. The company earned EUR 50 million from ongoing operations in 2017 and transported more than 200,000 teu by rail. (ben)
