More efficiency through digitalisation
In Upper Styria in Austria, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group and Voestalpine are working at the Donawitz site to optimise rail-bound supply chains, including supply and process control, with the help of digitalisation.
The aim of the project is to avoid empty runs, improve the use of loading capacities, reduce the manual effort involved in transport processing and reduce CO2 emissions.
To this end, the partnership seeks to further develop tools to manage the site, implement an innovative data collection system and create cross-supply chain interfaces for process integration. The pilot is supported by the Austrian federal ministry for climate protection (BMK). (ben)
