MOL joins Tokyo Bay ESG project

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has joined the ‘Tokyo Bay ESG Priority Project’ for 2023 with its ‘Wind Hunter Project’, a zero-emissions vessel initiative incorporating wind power and hydrogen.

This project is in line with the Tokyo metropolitan government’s vision of a sustainable Tokyo Bay area for the next 50 to 100 years. The aim is to harmonise ‘nature’ and ‘convenience’ by harnessing the central breakwater area’s land, sea, and air resources to introduce a range of cutting-edge technologies and foster innovation in renewable energy.

MOL will focus on hydrogen utilisation, including on-board green hydrogen production, storage, transportation and on-shore supply.

The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, contributing to a cleaner, sustainable world through renewable energy efforts and a cleaner energy supply chain. (pb)
