Many trucks en route in Ukraine

Besides citizens and refugees, many truck drivers are also trapped in Ukraine. The flow of vital goods, including food, water and medicine, is being severely affected because of Putin's war in Ukraine.

Humanitarian conditions are dire in many places, the international Road Transport Union (IRU) said, and it calls upon governments in Europe to enable a rapid passage of commercial vehicles, especially across borders. Many representants of the goods transport sector have provided aid convoys, IRU added.

For example, Polish road transport operators from IRU member ZMPD are helping to move aid to Ukraine, Cesmad Slovakia and Bohemia have provided aid convoys from Slovakia and Czechia, and Hungarian member Waberer’s International is sending trucks with humanitarian aid from Hungary to Ukraine. (ben)
