LTG Cargo to make operations more sustainable
The Lithuanian freight carrier has developed a fuel saving plan and is acquiring electric locomotives. The fuel plan will reduce diesel fuel consumption by 6 t a week, enough to fill the fuel tanks of about 120 cars.
The new electrically powered locomotives will save about 780,000 t of CO2 per year (compared to road haulage) and enable the company to offer its customers completely green transport services.
LTG Cargo already saved 667,000 t of carbon dioxide compared to road haulage last year. With the new green measures, it expects this figure to be even higher. (ben)
