Lower Saxony Ports: shaping tomorrow

At the 31st Lower Saxony Port Day, which was held in Stade on 1 September 2023, Lower Saxony's seaports highlighted their efforts to promote the energy transition. Minister of economic affairs Olaf Lies stressed the importance of investing in ports and their infrastructure as a national priority.

At the event, the ports discussed the challenges and opportunities arising from their decarbonisation policy. Lower Saxony's seaports have seen fluctuations in cargo volumes due to global demand shifts and energy price fluctuations. The event emphasised the critical role of ports in trade, innovation, and the energy transition for Germany's economic and national security. (pb)
