Improved operations for LNG carrier vessels

The Norwegian fleet operator Knutsen has signed a contract with the Finnish technology group Wärtsilä covering the reliquefaction plants of four LNG Carrier vessels. The agreement has been designed to optimise the vessels day-to-day operational performance.

The scope of the agreement includes support, monitoring and consulting. It’s based on the deployment of Wärtsilä’s digital Operim system (operational performance improvement and monitoring), which provides real-time data. The service provider will also offer technical support and advice on the maintenance of the reliquefaction plant and supply spare parts when the vessels are in a dry dock.

"If the cargo plant operates at optimal performance at all times, this will both increase efficiency and reduce maintenance costs,” says Bjørn Hagland Hansen, Knutsen Shipping’s LNG fleet manager. The 5-year agreement will enter into force in June. (sh)
