Hinterland rail services save up to ten days

The railfreight company Aurizon and the shipping line ANL are partners in an overland supply chain solution in Australia for Asia-Pacific region container traffic through the port of Darwin.

The service offers customers shipping from Asia-Pacific ports to Darwin (Australia), with direct rail connections to Adelaide and southern Australian destinations as required. The integrated shipping-rail solution is available from a range of Asia-Pacific region ports, Aurizon said.

The services offer an average potential time saving of ten days for freight arriving in Adelaide. Aurizon developed the overland solution on the back of the acquisition in 2022 of the 2,200 km Tarcoola–Darwin railway and a terminal in the port of Darwin. (ben)
