GW acquires freight forwarder B+A

The new wholly owned subsidiary in Germany specialises in the import and export of groupage freight containers by air and sea between Asia and Germany. It was integrated into the Gebrüder Weiss (GW) network on 27 June 2023.

With the takeover, the logistics specialist strengthens its German Air and Sea network. The freight forwarder B+A, founded in Nuremberg (Germany) in 1982, offers project transports and weekly container transports by sea from Asia, among other services.

The groupage freight containers (LCL) are shipped from logistics centres in China and Taiwan to Hamburg, from where they are carried by rail to Nuremberg before being delivered to regional companies.

GW has been operating in Nuremberg since 2017 and provides air and sea freight services at central hubs in Germany: Hamburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Hanover, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Straubing – and now also in Nuremberg.

The company’s land transport network in southern Germany was further expanded with the acquisition of the freight forwarder Rentschler in Baden-Württemberg at the start of the year. (ben)
