Growing demand for e-locomotives

CFL Cargo Deutschland and the Leipziger Eisenbahnverkehrsgesellschaft (LEG) have leased more locomotives from Northrail. CFL Cargo thus adds a Smartron- and two Vectron engines to its fleet and LEG replaces an BR 185 old-style locomotive with a Smartron. This is the third Smartron LEG has leased from Northrail.

Because of the growing demand for electro-mobility on the railways, the asset manager has itself ordered two more Siemens Smartron locomotives.

They will be available for hire as from April and are part of a purchase contract covering up to 25 Smartron locomotives that are intended to be deployed for railfreight traffic in Germany. (ben)
