Good vibes for Big Easy port Nola


2018 was a record year not only in the west of the USA: the Louisianan port of New Orleans moved more than 591,000 teu last year, 12.3% more than in 2017. The peak in 2018 marks the fifth year in a row the the port of New Orleans (Nola) surpassed the 0.5 million teu level at its Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal, which is operated by New Orleans Terminal and Ports America.

 

In October 2018, Nola welcomed the arrival of its largest containership to date. The vessel was the 9,500 teu "Pusan C, operated by the Marseille (France)-based ocean carrier CMA CGM.

 

Port Nola is also promoting a container-on-barge service in partnership with the port of Greater Baton Rouge LA and operator Seacor AMH. Last year, the service moved 26,800 teu by barge, an increase of 58% compared to 2017. (kd)
