German logistics prize for digital twin

The German Logistics Association (BVL) has awarded the German Logistics Prize 2023 to Dachser and Fraunhofer IML for their digital twin ILO ('Advanced Indoor Localisation and Operations').

The technology, which the honourees jointly developed in the Dachser Enterprise Lab and implemented in two pilot branches, automatically creates an up-to-date digital image of all packages, assets, and processes in the transhipment warehouse. Employees receive this information clearly displayed on mobile devices and displays.

The digital twin ILO increases transparency in goods handling, whereby the individual work phases are optimised and accelerated.

Dachser is now taking the next step in innovation development. As from 2024, the new technology is to be successively rolled out in the company’s European branches. (cj)
