Gdansk boosts rail capacity
The expansion of the Baltic Hub terminal in Gdansk is set to enhance railfreight connectivity in Poland’s and strengthen its role in European logistics.
The T3 terminal, expected to be fully operational by late 2025, will introduce 20 automated rail-mounted gantry cranes and seven ship-to-shore cranes.
“Completing T3 will support growing demand from international trade and also strengthen Poland’s role in the global logistics network,” said Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub, adding that “by the end of 2025 we’ll offer even more advanced and efficient container handling facilities.”
This will lead to an estimated additional 1.5 million teu capacity. The 717 m deepwater quay will also facilitate handling of the world’s largest container vessels. (js)
