Frankfurt and Hong Kong going high
Despite one day less than the same month the year before, February 2021 cargo traffic at Frankfurt airport (FRA) grew 21.7% to 180,700 t, of which 177,200 t were airfreight (+24%). During the first week of the month, right before Chinese New Year, there was a peak of 49,800 t - the second highest count for a single week ever seen at FRA.
The same applies for 6 February, whose 9,000 t of cargo handled are the second highest count for a single day in the airport's history.
At Hong Kong airport, where the "Sky Bridge", a 200 m long airside bridge connecting Terminal 1 and the North Satellite Concourse, received Beam Plus New Buildings’ provisional gold rating from the Hong Kong Green Building Council, monthly cargo throughput was 310,000 t (+23.3%), while freighter movements surged 36.8% to 4,615.
