Flemish channels find their swing

Flemish Waterways, Port of Antwerp, Port of Ostend, Port of Zeebrugge and North Sea Port as well as the Agency for Maritime and Coastal Services and the Common Nautical Management (CNM) have joined forces to introduce the innovative reporting platform SWING (Single Window for Inland Navigation) in 2021.

As from next year, skippers and inland shipping company within Flanders and on the Western Scheldt will only have to transmit a single digital report on their route, cargo and ship’s data to the new reporting platform.

Lydia Peeters, Flemish minister for mobility and public works, called the project a milestone in the efforts to increase efficiency and reduce administrative work. (mw)
