Fleet upsize to meet net-zero targets
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has exercised options to add two additional 11,700 ceu Shaper class vessels to its fleet from China Merchants Jingling Shipyard, with delivery expected in the latter half of 2028. The company also intends to upsize two more vessels from 9,300 to 11,700 ceu, raising the number of upsized Shaper vessels to eight.
These new vessels align with Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s commitment to net-zero emissions, as they are designed to operate on future fuels and significantly lower emissions from the outset.
This expansion brings the total Shaper class order to 14 vessels, comprising eight 11,700 ceu and six 9,300 ceu ships, in line with previous order costs. (pb)
