First real-world test for H2 prototype

Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) recently completed the very first trial run of X2.0, its second test vehicle, on the high-speed track at the UTAC Millbrook test centre in the UK.

With fast refuelling, heavier payloads and a long range, the hydrogen fuel cell powertrain truck offers comparable performance to traditionally fuelled commercial vehicles whilst emitting only water from the tailpipe, HVS said. The water emissions were visible on the test day, demonstrating that the fuel cells are working as expected.

X2.0 is one of a series of engineering prototypes built in the UK. Each testing phase focuses on different aspects of the vehicle design. (ben)
