First megawatt charger in Amsterdam
Shell has put its first megawatt charger into service at the energy transition campus Amsterdam (ETCA), designed for both electric trucks and ships, with a capacity equal to three 350kW fast chargers.
The megawatt charger is part of Shell’s investment in electric mobility alongside biofuels and LNG, anticipating a growing market for electric vehicles and vessels. It connects to ETCA's micro-electricity grid, which includes 3,600 solar panels, battery storage, EV chargers, and a hydrogen electrolyser.
Equipped with two charging arms for different vehicle types, the system offers flexible and fast charging. Though initially a pilot, it is operational and ready for use by appointment. (pb)
