First for Chinese food delivery industry
JD.com has announced that, from tomorrow, 1 March, it will provide full-time food delivery riders with full social insurance and housing fund contributions – a first in China’s food delivery industry.
Part-time riders will receive accident and health insurance. The initiative reflects JD.com’s long-standing commitment to employee welfare. The company already invests in social insurance for frontline workers and offers additional benefits, such as medical coverage, an interest-free housing plan and an employee relief fund.
This move coincides with JD Food Delivery’s recent launch, which offers zero-commission services for dine-in restaurant partners until May 2025. By setting new industry standards, JD.com aims to improve working conditions for riders while enhancing service quality for consumers. (ah)
