Enhanced routes with Southern Africa hubs

MSC has announced updates to its network in Southern Africa, enhancing connectivity between Europe and the region. The revised NWC service to South Africa now includes a direct call at Walvis Bay (Namibia), enabling cargo movement from North Europe to Namibia and South Africa.

The revised rotation will start with the voyage of the ‘MSC Rosaria’ from London Gateway on 20 January, sailing to Rotterdam, from where it will proceed to Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Le Havre, Sines, Las Palmas, Walvis Bay, Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), Durban, Cape Town and Las Palmas again before returning to London Gateway.

Two new shuttle services were also launched, namely the Namibia Express, connecting Cape Town and Walvis Bay (started on 8 January), and the Mozambique Shuttle, linking Walvis Bay, Maputo, Beira, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa (started on 14 January).

Walvis Bay will serve as a key transhipment hub, streamlining imports and exports between Europe and Southern Africa. These updates have bolstered MSC’s intra-Africa trade network. (pb)
