Eimskip took the cake in 2021

Iceland-based shipping group Eimskip has reported its figures for 2021. While revenues rose by a significant 32.1% to EUR 882.7 million (EUR 668.3 million in 2020), adjusted ebitda took a leap of 85% to reach EUR 114.3 million (EUR 61.7 million in 2020).

The container liner also contributed its share in 2021, "after years of unacceptable results", as was said in a press release. Changes in routing and focused revenue management were the main drivers, supported by good demand and favourable global trends.

The group's international forwarding operations also recorded strong results, especially in Asia. This good result and the growing share of forwarding services in Eimskip’s operations reduced the traditional seasonality in earnings.

Volumes in the Trans-Atlantic services saw substantial growth in 2021 and demand for transportation west-bound to North America remains high. The company has so far made a successful start into 2022, with business going well in both liner- and forwarding services. (sh)
