Difficult times for real estate in Hamburg
2023 was a year of mixed results for real estate in Hamburg. Engel & Völkers Commercial Hamburg looks back on last year and predicts developments for 2024.
In 2023, around 285,000 sqm of industrial and logistics space was taken up in Hamburg - in 2022, take-up was 520,000 sqm. Several factors play a role here. Rising construction costs and interest rates have led to a shortage of space for new building projects. Rents also rose by 21%.
The situation in Hamburg will therefore only recover and improve with the completion of new buildings in 2025. For this reason, Engel & Völkers Commercial Hamburg predicts a similar figure to 2023, assuming a take-up of 300,000 sqm. (mk)
