Climate-friendly carbon solutions

French logistics provider Geodis has announced plans to reduce direct and indirect carbon emissions through an approach in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Geodis will switch its fleet of vehicles to alternative modes using carbon-free or bio-sourced fuels. By the end of this year, the company aims to provide low-carbon last-mile deliveries to 40 French cities. It also seeks to integrate sustainable marine and aviation fuel into its transport solutions.

By 2030, the company aims to have cut the GHG emissions of its fleet and buildings by 42%, while the carbon intensity of subcontracted transport is to be reduced by 30%. These measurements will be made using 2022 as a base year. The plan is an application of a science-based approach (i.e. the science-based targets initiative SBTi), to whom these goals have been submitted for approval. (mk)
