Chefs Culinar optimises route planning with Descartes
Chefs Culinar is integrating the Descartes ‘Route Planner’ to enhance route optimisation and delivery efficiency in its European distribution network.
The foods service wholesaler will link the system with its ERP and telematics platforms. “With Descartes we can ensure on-time deliveries despite increasingly complex transport chains,” said Dr Frank Scholz, group CIO of Citti Handelsgesellschaft, Chefs Culinar’s parent company.
The system allows for hybrid route planning, combining fixed delivery patterns with dynamic scheduling, reducing driving distances, delivery times and fuel consumption. The Descartes ‘Route Planner’ will be operational from 2025 and will support real-time route adjustments, last-mile delivery improvements and enhanced CO₂ efficiency to meet service and sustainability demands.
