CER Cargo modernising with ‘Transmontanas’
The Hungarian railfreight carrier CER Cargo has taken over the first of two 610-105 locomotives on order from the Romanian manufacturer Satronic. The units are equipped with the latest European Train Control System technology (ETCS).
The locomotives will play a key role in freight transport between Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The second unit is set to be delivered in spring 2024. CER Cargo will start operations in Austria and Germany this year, which will require international approval of the locomotives.
The partnership with Softronic will ensure that Transmontana locomotives meet the requirements of European and non-EU markets, CER said. Over the past decade, the railway enterprise has continuously modernised its fleet for international railfreight transport. (ben)
