Braving the failure of UK's ATC system

Andrew Austin, group operations director at the British forwarding company Priority Freight, commented: "This week’s failure of the UK’s air traffic control systems affected the movement of goods and travellers on a global scale. As operators attempt to realign schedules and relocate people and planes, there has been a knock-on effect for the logistics sector and businesses that rely on it. [...]

Companies that have suffered the most have been those without contingency planning in place. [...] Priority Freight has continued to execute on-time deliveries despite the issues, thanks to our access to next-flight-out schedules, a global network of ground control agents and our proven expedited customs clearance processes.

[...] Nats has multiple layers of backup to minimise the impact of these issues and we, as an industry, are grateful that their quick actions allowed UK air space to remain open throughout." (ah)
