Bifa’s Steve Parker to address cargo insurance conference in London
Steve Parker (pictured), the director general of the British International Freight Association (Bifa), will deliver the keynote address at the upcoming Cargo Insurance London conference on 20 March, three weeks from today. He’ll be joined by Marcus Baker, global head of marine, cargo and logistics at Marsh.
Parker and Baker will explore why a significant share of global freight remains uninsured, with estimates suggesting that as much as 80% of cargo may move without insurance, or be under-insured. “This approach has always surprised me,” Parker said. “We will examine the reasons and propose initiatives to address the issue.”
The event will also cover market cycles, risk management, container losses and fraud prevention. Parker emphasised Bifa’s role in helping members navigate insurance complexities, advocating simpler placement and claims processes to benefit all stakeholders. (ah)
