Autonomous trucks: a good test result

Autonomous trucks show an efficiency potential of up to 40% when transferring goods to rail. This is the conclusion drawn by Man Truck, Deutsche Bahn and Fresenius and Götting Universities of Applied Sciences after they completed the joint research project Anita (Autonomous Innovation in Terminal Operations).

For the study, the partners used an autonomously driving truck that can independently switch containers from road to rail. The vehicle was tested for three and a half years at the DB Intermodal Services Container Depot and the Duss Container Terminal in Ulm in Germany.

The test results provide insights for the future integration of autonomous trucks into the processes of logistics hubs. (ben)
