Ammonia gains ground
In Japan, based on an approval in principle (AiP) from the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Class NK), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Mitsui & Co. have come together to build a large ammonia-powered bulk carrier.
MOL and Mitsui jointly determined the size and specifications of the unit, and the companies contracted Mitsubishi Shipbuilding to design the vessel. The AiP covers a "210,000 DWT Cape size" bulker. (sh)
