Advanced dynamic positioning system launched
Wärtsilä has launched a new propulsion solution to boost the performance and efficiency of offshore vessels, ferries, and tugs. The package includes Wärtsilä’s WST-E electric steerable thruster and WST-R retractable thrusters, combined with an upgraded Pro Touch remote control system.
This integration notably improves dynamic positioning by reducing thruster interaction losses, increasing effective thrust by up to 20%, and enhancing response times for critical positioning. It not only optimises power usage—thereby cutting emissions and fuel consumption—but also simplifies installation and supports navigational control through a more intuitive user interface. (pb)
