A step forward in emissions calculations

Created by major players in the European automotive industry, a guideline on emissions calculations has now been published by the ECG. ECG (the Association of European Vehicle Logistics), VDA (the German Association of the Automotive Industry) and equipment manufacturers began to work on the guideline in February 2023.

The partners combined efforts to standardise the methods by which automotive players compare modes of transport within supply chains. With this framework, the collaboration aims to enable companies to define responsibilities and systematise reporting procedures. LSPs, OEMs, parts suppliers and logistics players were also involved.

Marcus Bollig, VDA managing director products & value creation: “The development of a standard methodology for calculating and reporting emissions in the automotive supply chain is an important step towards achieving the climate targets.” (mk)
