100,000th China-Europe freight train now en route
The jubilee freight train was loaded with electronic products, vehicles and auto parts, mechanical components, and household appliances. It departed last Friday, 15 November 2024, in southwest China's Chongqing municipality, and will arrive in Duisburg, Germany, after a ten-day journey.
China launched the over-land train service in March 2011. Since then, the service has transported over 11 million teu containers of goods, valued at more than USD 420 billion, the Chinese government said. So far, the China-Europe freight train network has expanded to 227 cities in 25 European countries and over 100 cities in eleven Asian countries. (ben)
