Der 25-j\u00e4hrige Mitarbeiter des Hafens wird weiterhin die Position des Executive Deputy Port Director innehaben. Diese Ernennung reflektiert laut Rodger Rees, dem Hafenleiter und CEO, die wachsende Verantwortung von Milutin in der \u00dcberwachung der t\u00e4glichen Hafenoperationen. Dazu z\u00e4hlen unter anderem die Verwaltung der Freihandelszone, Krisenmanagement, Dredging-Projekte sowie die Zusammenarbeit mit Partnern, darunter Mieter und verschiedene staatliche Beh\u00f6rden.<\/p>\n<p>Milutin begann seine Karriere im Hafen im Jahr 2001 als Polizeibeamter im Port of Galveston. Im Laufe der Jahre hatte er verschiedene Positionen inne, darunter Sicherheitsbeauftragter, Hafenmeister und Direktor der Hafenoperationen. F\u00fcr seine Verdienste wurde er 2018 von der US-K\u00fcstenwache mit einer Auszeichnung f\u00fcr \u00f6ffentliche Dienste geehrt, nachdem er massgeblich zur schnellen Wiederer\u00f6ffnung des Hafenkomplexes nach dem Hurrikan Harvey beigetragen hatte. Zudem erhielt er eine weitere Auszeichnung f\u00fcr seine Unterst\u00fctzung bei der R\u00fcckf\u00fchrung von Kreuzfahrtbesatzungsmitgliedern in ihre Heimatl\u00e4nder w\u00e4hrend der COVID-19-Pandemie im Jahr 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Im Januar 2021 wurde Milutin zum Executive Deputy Port Director bef\u00f6rdert. Er \u00e4usserte sich zu seiner neuen Rolle mit den Worten:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eEs ist mir eine Ehre, als Chief Operating Officer zu dienen, und ich bin stolz darauf, mit den engagierten Mitarbeitern und Hafenpartnern zusammenzuarbeiten, die den Erfolg des Port of Galveston ausmachen. Ich freue mich darauf, das bemerkenswerte Wachstum und die aussergew\u00f6hnliche Betriebsleistung dieses Hafens weiterhin zu unterst\u00fctzen.\u201c<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Hafen von Galveston: Ein bedeutendes maritimes Zentrum<\/h3>\n<p>Der Hafen von Galveston, der sich am Eingang zur Galveston Bay und zum Houston Ship Channel befindet, ist seit 1825 ein florierendes maritimes Handelszentrum. Mit einer Fl\u00e4che von 340 ha und einer Entfernung von nur 45 Minuten bis zu offenen Gew\u00e4ssern bietet der Hafen die notwendige Infrastruktur, um wachsende Gesch\u00e4fte im Bereich Kreuzfahrten, Fracht, Handel und Schiffbau zu bedienen.<\/p>\n<p>Der Hafen rangiert als viertgr\u00f6sster Kreuzfahrthafen in den USA und verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber vier Kreuzfahrtterminals. F\u00fcr das Jahr 2026 prognostiziert der Hafen 446 Abfahrten und 3,9 Millionen Passagierbewegungen, was einen neuen Rekord f\u00fcr den Hafen darstellt. Dar\u00fcber hinaus vermietet und verwaltet der Hafen eine Vielzahl von Frachtanlagen im tiefen Wasser des Galveston Harbor, der zu den 40 gesch\u00e4ftigsten Wasserstrassen f\u00fcr Fracht in den USA z\u00e4hlt.
