In diesem Sommer werden Hunderte Tonnen Vanille \u00fcber den Atlantik transportiert, w\u00e4hrend Passagiere von United Airlines in ihren Sitzen in 10.000 m H\u00f6he entspannen. Dies geschieht bereits im dritten Jahr in Folge.<\/p>\n<p>Die Geschichte der Vanille reicht weit zur\u00fcck. Urspr\u00fcnglich von den Totonac, einem indigenen Volk in Mexiko, kultiviert, wurde sie sp\u00e4ter von europ\u00e4ischen K\u00f6nigen gesch\u00e4tzt. Heute wird ein Grossteil der weltweiten Vanille auf Madagaskar und Mauritius, tropischen Inseln vor der K\u00fcste Afrikas, angebaut. Dort werden die Vanilleorchideen sorgf\u00e4ltig gepflanzt und durch einen aufwendigen Prozess, der mehrere Monate in Anspruch nehmen kann, behandelt, bevor die Bohnen versandbereit sind.<\/p>\n<p>Nach der Ernte \u00fcbernimmt United Cargo einen Teil des Transports. Die Vanilleladungen verlassen den Indischen Ozean und gelangen \u00fcber Paris zu den United-Fl\u00fcgen nach Chicago und Newark. Laut United Cargo werden w\u00f6chentlich Tonnen von Vanille \u00fcber den Atlantik transportiert, um sicherzustellen, dass Eisdielen und B\u00e4ckereien ihre Produkte p\u00fcnktlich anbieten k\u00f6nnen. In diesem Jahr hat United Cargo bereits \u00fcber 280 t Vanille gesichert, mit weiteren Lieferungen, die im Laufe des Sommers erwartet werden.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr den Transport von Vanilleeis, das \u00fcber die Vanilleschoten hinausgeht, nutzt United Cargo das TempControl-Produkt. Dieses erm\u00f6glicht den pr\u00e4zisen Versand temperaturempfindlicher Fracht weltweit.
