Mai 2026 den Betrieb des Gainesville Inland Port aufgenommen. Seitdem werden t\u00e4glich Z\u00fcge und Lkw an der neuen Anlage abgefertigt, die eine direkte Verbindung zwischen dem Inland-Hub f\u00fcr die Fertigungsindustrie und dem Hafen von Savannah erm\u00f6glicht. Laut Griff Lynch, Pr\u00e4sident und CEO der Georgia Ports Authority, erweitert der neue Standort die Reichweite des Hafens von Savannah bis tief ins Nordosten Georgien. Die Hersteller in der Region profitieren von einer nahtlosen Schienenanbindung, die \u00fcber 40 w\u00f6chentliche Schiffsank\u00fcnfte mit globalen M\u00e4rkten verbindet.<\/p>\n<p>Der Gainesville Inland Port bietet Versendern eine Alternative zu einer knapp 1000 km langen Hin- und R\u00fcckfahrt mit Lastwagen, was die Anzahl der Lkw auf Georgias Strassen und im Raum Atlanta verringern soll. Die GPA erwartet, im ersten Betriebsjahr 26.000 Container auf die Schiene zu verlagern, was den Verkehrsfluss auf den Strassen verbessern und die Emissionen reduzieren k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>\n<p>Aktuell werden etwa 80% der Ladung aus Savannah per Lkw und 20% per Bahn transportiert. Die Schiene wird besonders ab einer Entfernung von 400 km kosteneffizienter, insbesondere angesichts steigender Dieselpreise. Der Hafen zeichnet sich durch eine hohe Geschwindigkeit und Flexibilit\u00e4t aus: Es gibt 40 w\u00f6chentliche Schiffsank\u00fcnfte, 42 Doppelstockz\u00fcge, die die Inlandm\u00e4rkte verbinden, und eine branchenf\u00fchrende Verweildauer von 20 Stunden oder weniger f\u00fcr die Z\u00fcge. Die Lkw-Tore verarbeiten t\u00e4glich zwischen 14.000 und 16.000 Bewegungen, wobei die Durchlaufzeiten f\u00fcr doppelte Fahrten unter 50 Minuten und f\u00fcr einfache Fahrten bei 30 Minuten liegen.<\/p>\n<p>Die GPA arbeitet mit Norfolk Southern an dem neuen Service zusammen. Bei vollst\u00e4ndiger Auslastung wird der Gainesville Inland Port eine j\u00e4hrliche Kapazit\u00e4t von 200.000 Containern erreichen. Um die Verkehrsauswirkungen des neuen G\u00fcterbahnhofs auf die lokalen Gemeinschaften in Gainesville zu minimieren, hat die GPA 4,8 Mio. USD in Strassenprojekte in Hall County investiert. Dazu geh\u00f6rt die Beseitigung eines Bahn\u00fcbergangs, die Umleitung der White Sulphur Road und die Asphaltierung der Cagle Road. Die neue White Sulphur Route s\u00fcdlich des Inlandterminals gew\u00e4hrleistet einen freien Zugang f\u00fcr Einsatzfahrzeuge und vermeidet Verkehrsbehinderungen durch Z\u00fcge. Die Asphaltierung der Cagle Road bietet zudem eine verbesserte Alternative f\u00fcr die Anwohner.
