Dies folgt auf eine sechsmonatige Pause, die nach dem t\u00f6dlichen Absturz eines UPS MD-11F im November 2025 verh\u00e4ngt wurde. Die US-amerikanische Luftfahrtbeh\u00f6rde FAA hatte daraufhin eine Notfallanweisung erlassen, die eine umfassende Inspektion der MD-11F-Flotte vorschrieb.\u00a0FedEx hatte bereits im Januar angek\u00fcndigt, dass man mit Boeing und der FAA zusammenarbeite, um die R\u00fcckkehr der Flugzeuge bis zum Ende des vierten Quartals, das am 31. Mai endet, zu erm\u00f6glichen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Flotte von FedEx umfasst insgesamt 29 MD-11F, die derzeit geparkt sind. Die meisten dieser Frachter sind \u00fcber 30 Jahre alt, wobei das \u00e4lteste Modell 36 Jahre alt ist. Die Entscheidung von FedEx, die MD-11F wieder in den Dienst zu stellen, k\u00f6nnte einige in der Branche \u00fcberraschen, da das Alter der Flugzeuge Bedenken aufwirft. Im Gegensatz dazu hat UPS alle MD-11F im vierten Quartal 2025 aus dem Verkehr gezogen und plant, diese durch Boeing 767F zu ersetzen.<\/p>\n<h3>Wiederinbetriebnahme nach Inspektionen<\/h3>\n<p>Die MD-11F-Flotte von FedEx wurde nach dem Unfall bei UPS, bei dem 15 Menschen ums Leben kamen, vor\u00fcbergehend stillgelegt. Der Unfall ereignete sich, als sich im Steigflug das linke Triebwerk von der Tragfl\u00e4che l\u00f6ste, was zu einem Kontrollverlust des Flugzeugs f\u00fchrte. Die National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hat in ihren vorl\u00e4ufigen Erkenntnissen auf einen Erm\u00fcdungsbruch in der Triebwerksaufh\u00e4ngung hingewiesen. Diese Schwachstelle war bereits 2011 in einem Wartungsmemo von Boeing thematisiert worden.<\/p>\n<p>Die FAA hat die MD-11 nach dem Vorfall zun\u00e4chst geerdet, jedoch eine Wiederfreigabe nicht ausgeschlossen, sofern die erforderlichen Inspektionen und Reparaturen durchgef\u00fchrt werden. FedEx plant, die MD-11F schrittweise wieder in Betrieb zu nehmen, nachdem die notwendigen Massnahmen abgeschlossen sind.<\/p>\n<p>Die Auswirkungen der Stilllegung der MD-11F auf die globale Frachtkapazit\u00e4t waren begrenzt, da diese Flugzeuge \u00fcberwiegend auf nationalen Routen eingesetzt wurden.
