Hiermit wurde ein wichtiger Schritt f\u00fcr die Wettbewerbsf\u00e4higkeit des Kanals getan. Damit wird auch verhindert, dass die Schiffe den l\u00e4ngeren und weniger umweltfreundlichen Umweg \u00fcber um D\u00e4nemark herum w\u00e4hlen.<\/p>\n<p>(Kiel) Die Initiative Kiel-Canal hat sich in den vergangenen Monaten mit Unterst\u00fctzung der f\u00fcnf norddeutschen Bundesl\u00e4nder und des Zentralverband Deutscher Schiffsmakler beharrlich f\u00fcr die Aussetzung der Befahrungsabgaben f\u00fcr den Nord-Ostsee-Kanal eingesetzt und begr\u00fc\u00dft die heute getroffene Entscheidung des Bundes, auf die Befahrungsabgaben bis zum 31.12.2020 zu verzichten.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eHervorgerufen durch der Corona-Krise steht die maritime Wirtschaft unter massivem Kostendruck und so erlebt der Verkehr auf dem Nord-Ostsee-Kanal einen noch nicht dagewesenen R\u00fcckgang\u201c, betont Jens Broder Knudsen, Vorsitzender der Initiative Kiel-Canal. Dieser R\u00fcckgang basiere haupts\u00e4chlich auf den gegenw\u00e4rtig historisch niedrigen Bunkerpreisen, die f\u00fcr den Nord-Ostsee-Kanal zu einem erheblichen Wettbewerbs\u00adnachteil gegen\u00fcber dem Umweg um Skagen f\u00fchren w\u00fcrden. Die Route um D\u00e4nemark sei zwar l\u00e4nger und weniger umweltfreundlich, daf\u00fcr aber frei von Befahrungsabgaben.<\/p>\n<h5><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3973 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/transportjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Nordostsee_8.7.20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"680\" \/><\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5><strong>Auswirkungen auch auf den Hafen Hamburg<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>\u201eDas Aussetzen der Befahrungsabgaben ist ein wichtiger Schritt, um die Wettbewerbsf\u00e4higkeit des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals wiederherzustellen. Er wird der Bedeutung des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals gerecht, denn dieser sichert \u00fcber 3.000 Arbeitspl\u00e4tze in der Region und allein im Hamburger Hafen rund 51 Mio. t Ladung Gesamtumschlag\u201c, stellt Knudsen heraus.\u00a0 Knudsen zeigt auf, dass auch exportorientierte Bundesl\u00e4nder wie z. B. Bayern und Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg\u00a0auf den Hamburger Hafen und einen funktionieren Nord-Ostsee-Kanals angewiesen seien, da diese\u201c Logistikdrehscheibe\u201c f\u00fcr Exporte in den Baltischen Raum und den Anschluss an internationale Transportketten von zentraler Bedeutung sei.<\/p>\n<p>Laut Knudsen w\u00e4re jetzt eine Pr\u00fcfung n\u00f6tig, ob das zeitlich befristete Aussetzen der Abgaben ausreicht oder eine dauerhafte Aussetzung gesamtwirtschaftlich die bessere L\u00f6sung darstellen w\u00fcrde. Er weist in diesem Zusammenhang darauf hin, dass im vergangenen Jahr der Bund\u00a0 zwecks Wettbewerbsst\u00e4rkung der alternativen Verkehrstr\u00e4ger Bahn und Binnenschifffahrt dauerhaft auf j\u00e4hrliche Einnahmen in H\u00f6he von 350 Mio. Euro bei der Bahn und 35 Mio. Euro bei den Schifffahrtsabgaben f\u00fcr die s\u00fcddeutschen und norddeutschen Binnenwasserstra\u00dfen verzichtet hat. Ausgenommen wurden nur der Nord-Ostsee-Kanal und die Mosel.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Die Initiative Kiel-Canal e.V.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Die Ende 2012 gegr\u00fcndete Initiative Kiel-Canal e.V. b\u00fcndelt engagierte Stimmen f\u00fcr den Nord-Ostsee-Kanal und macht sich gegen\u00fcber Wirtschaft, Politik und Beh\u00f6rden f\u00fcr den Funktionserhalt und die Zukunftsf\u00e4higkeit des Kanals stark.
