Paraguay honours MOL chairman
During a recent visit to Japan, Paraguay’s foreign minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano (left), presented Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) chairman Junichiro Ikeda (second from right) with the “Don Jose Falcon” national award of excellence in recognition of his role in MOL’s transport of fire engines to the country.
Paraguay’s embassy in Japan mediates the donation of fire engines from the Japan Firefighters Association to Paraguayan volunteer firefighting organisations, and MOL has been contributing to the project by providing marine transport services. Since 2010, the company has shipped 133 vehicles on a total of 19 occasions.
The president of the Firefighters Association, Toshifumi Akimoto (second from left) also received the award at this occasion, further underscoring the friendly relationship between the two countries. (cj)
