MOL's first female captain takes the helm
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, (MOL) has appointed Naomi Matsushita captain of the car carrier “Beluga Ace,” effective 6 June 2023. She will be the first female seafarer to serve as a captain for a Japanese oceangoing shipping company (according to a MOL survey).
Since joining MOL, Matsushita has gained onboard experience mainly on car carriers and containerships. Onshore, she has been active in a wide range of fields such as support for the business divisions and ship management, by drawing on the expertise and skills she has gained through working onboard.
