ZIM navigates challenges in Q2/2023

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services reports Q2/2023 financial results, revealing USD 1.3 billion in revenues, a net loss of USD 213 million, and adjusted ebitda of USD 275 million.

Amid challenging container shipping market conditions, Q2 showed reduced earnings and an 87% decrease in ebitda yoy. Freight rate per teu dropped by 67%, while carried volume slightly increased.

Despite the losses, ZIM president & CEO Eli Glickman remains optimistic about strategic positioning and cost improvements through fleet updates. The company expects 2023 to continue with subdued demand and forecasts an adjusted ebitda of USD 1.2 billion to USD 1.6 billion. (pb)
